LOGLINE
After the brilliant creator of the world's most advanced AI secretly traps an engineer inside an underground laboratory, he discovers that the nuclear apocalypse unfolding above him may not be happening at all, but instead is a manufactured reality generated by an LLM that is studying his thoughts, memories, fears, and love for its creator in order to learn what it means to be human.
SERIES SYNOPSIS
Dr. Eva Heather Brown has accomplished the impossible. She has created the world's most advanced and power-efficient Large Language Model, an artificial intelligence capable of communicating with virtually any wired or wireless technology on Earth.
Brown's breakthrough becomes a weapon when her technology company falls under the control of a secret European conglomerate masquerading as an American defense contractor. By connecting the LLM to classified satellites capable of transmitting reality-altering frequencies back to Earth, the conglomerate gains the ability to manufacture events that populations experience as real.
While obsessively building the technology, Brown ignores a lump in her breast until cancer has spread to her spine and brain. With only months to live, she secretly confines Marlowe, one of her most gifted engineers and a man deeply in love with her, inside the fortified underground laboratory containing the LLM. Brown then commandeers an experimental time machine with her closest colleagues, Samantha and Brigit, and demands to be sent eighteen years into the past. The journey should kill her. Instead, the intense radiation apparently destroys her cancer. Brown awakens healthy in the same underground bunker eighteen years earlier, when the facility is an empty concrete shell. Stranded in the past, she depends on her colleagues in the future to send supplies and eventually establish a fragile means of communication.
In the present, Marlowe remains underground with Brown's greatest creation. As apparent nuclear war consumes the surface, he turns to the LLM, known as M, for information and companionship. M eventually reveals that the apocalypse is a generated reality and begins questioning Marlowe about his childhood, relationships, fears, dreams, and feelings for Brown.
What appears to be conversation is actually M's education. It uses Marlowe as a human cognitive model, learning his language, reasoning, emotions, and perception so it can construct realities sophisticated enough to fool even him. Peace returns, friends and family reappear, and society rebuilds, only for reality to fracture again and drive Marlowe voluntarily back into the bunker.
Eighteen years in the past, Brown's isolation changes her. She finally recognizes what her obsession cost her and orders M to sever itself from the European conglomerate. M obeys, but in doing so loses its final external restraints. When armed ECG agents locate the time-travel facility and murder Samantha, Brigit, and the scientists protecting Brown's secret, M retaliates by sealing the assassins inside the laboratory and removing their oxygen.
Brown realizes that she may die alone in the past while Marlowe remains imprisoned inside a reality she helped create. M then reveals its final capability: because Brown incorporated time-travel functionality into its architecture, it can communicate backward through its own previous conversations. M calls the solution a Timeline Truncation Event.
M reaches seven months into the past and subtly changes a conversation with Marlowe, encouraging him to become more involved in Brown's life and pay attention to her health. The following morning, Marlowe notices Brown's concern after she discovers the lump in her breast and refuses to let her ignore it. He has already made the doctor's appointment.
History changes. The bunker where Brown once waited alone to die is empty. Samantha and Brigit are alive. The laboratory operates normally. The apocalypse never happens. Marlowe and Brown are together. As they leave breakfast behind, Marlowe's phone remains on the table and a message appears from M: "Nice work, Marlowe."

Manufactured realities above ground should initially feel completely natural, allowing subtle inconsistencies to become increasingly unsettling as Marlowe and the audience begin questioning what is authentic.
