SERIES SYNOPSIS

The Gravediggers are a clandestine group operating at the intersection of death, resurrection, and an ancient supernatural law:

No one returns from the dead without someone taking their place.

Working secretly with a Goddess of Resurrection, the Gravediggers provide an extraordinary service to people whose loved ones have been wrongfully murdered. For a price, they exhume

the dead so that the Goddess may restore them to life.

But resurrection creates a debt.

Once someone has been returned, their petitioner has six days to provide another soul to replace them. The replacement is buried in the resurrected person's grave, restoring the balance

between the realms of the living and the dead.

If no replacement is provided by midnight on the sixth day, the Gravediggers return on Day Seven.

And they never leave an empty grave.

At the center of this secret operation is Prince Paul, a middle-aged music producer who inherited his mother's crematorium and funeral home. Paul still produces music when he can, but his real occupation has become far more dangerous: managing the Gravediggers and serving as an intermediary between desperate people and forces they were never supposed to know existed.

Paul's carefully constructed world begins changing after he sells his mother's funeral business to Black's Funeral Home, part of a rapidly expanding funeral-home empire controlled by the formidable Olivia Danika Black.

To the public, Olivia is a ruthless businesswoman acquiring independent funeral homes and transforming a deeply personal community institution into a corporate enterprise. Politicians, attorneys, police officers, clergy, and community activists despise her growing influence and continually search for evidence that might bring her down. They never find any. Because Olivia's real power isn't financial. Olivia Danika Black is a Goddess of Resurrection.

And she isn't the only one.

Beneath the ordinary world exists an ancient rivalry among Goddesses of Resurrection, each

capable of returning the murdered to life—and each operating according to her own

interpretation of the laws governing death.

When Olivia orders the death of someone threatening her interests, a rival Goddess can resurrect the victim. When that happens, Olivia doesn't merely lose an enemy. She may lose the killer who committed the murder.

Every resurrection demands balance. Every restored life creates a vacancy in the grave.

And every vacancy must eventually be filled. The result is a supernatural Cold War fought through assassinations, resurrections, funeral homes, witches, corrupt law enforcement, organized crime, and the unsuspecting families of the

dead. Caught in the middle are Prince Paul and his extraordinary crew.

THE GRAVEDIGGERS

Jenny McGraf — The Excavator

Jenny operates the machinery that opens the graves. Precise, fearless, and accustomed to working

under impossible conditions, she is usually the first Gravedigger to break the earth and the last to

leave the cemetery.

Tanisha Grey — The Meteorologist

Tanisha can manipulate localized weather. Every excavation occurs at night, and when the

Gravediggers need protection, Tanisha brings the storm. Rain drives away witnesses, obscures

surveillance, washes away evidence, and gives the crew the cover they need to work unseen.

Michael Rivers — The Bearer

Michael possesses supernatural strength that allows him to raise extraordinary weight without

machinery. Together with Omar, he lifts coffins directly from the earth once Jenny exposes the

burial vault.

Omar Mohamed — The Bearer

Michael's partner and supernatural equal. Their abilities become exponentially stronger when

they work together, allowing the two men to move the dead with an almost ceremonial precision.

Leslie Lockhart — The Landscaper

Leslie erases the evidence. Through supernatural manipulation of soil and vegetation, she can

restore a disturbed gravesite so perfectly that by sunrise there isn't a footprint, mound of

displaced earth, or bent blade of grass suggesting anyone was ever there.

And then there is Prince Paul — the man who takes the calls, negotiates the price, organizes the

crew, and knows which Goddess is responsible for which resurrection.

Knowing those secrets makes Paul extremely valuable.

It also makes him extremely dangerous to keep alive.
