FRONTIER PSYCHIATRY
Format: One-Hour Sci-Fi / Psychological Horror Limited Series
Logline:
A revolutionary psychiatric clinic offers free, experimental therapy that forces patients into deadly alternate universes to conquer their trauma. But as a brilliant detective closes in on the practice's reality-bending secrets, she discovers the clinic is a front for an extraterrestrial
invasion network disguised as corporate health care.
THE HOOK (PREMISE)
At Frontier Psychiatry, the cost of mental health care is entirely free—if you are willing to sign away your life.
Led by the enigmatic Dr. Pine, the clinic uses advanced, experimental technology disguised as standard Trans-cranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and IV Ketamine therapy. In reality, the device opens a gateway to a freshly minted, localized alternate universe. Patients are dropped
directly into these simulation realms, forced to physically confront their deepest fears, crippling depression, or toxic relationship dynamics.
The stakes are absolute. For couples trying to save their marriages, the universe creates high- concept, life-or-death trials. Some emerge healed and unified.
Others suffer a darker fate:
one partner survives, and the other is lost to the void. Total liability waivers protect the clinic, but the human cost is triggering a quiet cosmic anomaly.
CORE CHARACTERS
Dr. Pine
The brilliant, chillingly composed face of Frontier Psychiatry. She views herself not as a monster, but as a pioneer saving humanity from its own mental prison. Her favorite response to deja vu from patients is a curated trap: "Whenever my patients say that, they’ve found the right doctor."
The Inspector / The Shape-Shifter
A mysterious humanoid alien observing the earthbound experiment. To the clinic's oblivious administrative staff, she is the ultimate bureaucratic nightmare—seamlessly shifting shapes to appear as a strict federal DEA Agent, a Mental Health & Human Services Inspector, or a cold
Medical Board Auditor. She uses the cover of routine regulatory audits to monitor the alien technology and tracking data.
Detective Elena Vance (Later FBI Undercover)
A hyper-focused detective who notices a bizarre pattern: people suddenly dropping unconscious in public spaces (like a local diner and Central Park). Her investigation leads her directly to Frontier Psychiatry. She is dangerous because she can see through the bureaucracy.
Marcus "The Ghost" Rossi
Elena’s ex-boyfriend. He is a brilliant thief and former organized crime boss. Despite their fractured past, his criminal toolkit, lack of respect for authority, and ability to source illicit security footage make him Elena's most valuable asset when the system turns against her.
THE SEASONAL NARRATIVE ARC
Phase 1: The Investigation & The Frame-Up
As Detective Elena Vance connects the public fainting spells to Frontier Psychiatry, she gets too
close to the truth. She doesn't realize the fainted victims were grieving patients about to break their non-disclosure contracts, neutralized by the Shape-Shifter's telepathic energy from meters away.
To eliminate the threat, the Alien shifts into Elena's form and brutally murders Elena's boyfriend. Framed for a crime she didn't commit and deemed mentally unstable, Elena is locked away in a
secure psychiatric ward. The corrupt doctors pump her full of antipsychotics to erase her memories and keep her permanently sidelined.
Phase 2: The Jailbreak & The Promotion
Marcus uses his criminal network to track down corrupted security camera footage, proving a double framed Elena. He orchestrates a high-stakes prison/asylum break. Cleared of the charges and armed with fragmented memories of a massive conspiracy, Elena is recruited by a
clandestine branch of the FBI to go deep undercover into the clinic. As she infiltrates the operation, the doctors accelerate their trials, splintering reality into multiple, evolving timelines.
Phase 3: Cracking the Code
Hiding in a remote, rented safe-house in the woods with an FBI colleague and the colleague's brilliant teenage son, Elena tries to piece together her fractured memory. She vividly recalls a specific number painted on the walls of three different clinic locations: 17280.
The colleague's son chimes in with a mathematical breakthrough. If there are five planned regional offices in total, multiplying 17280 by 5 yields 86,400.
The Revelation: There are exactly 86,400 seconds in a single day. The clinics aren't just treating patients; they are counting down.
THE SEASON FINALE CLIFFHANGER
The climax of the limited series tracks the final countdown. The horror builds as Frontier Psychiatry successfully completes its 86,400th patient appointment. The appointments were never about healing trauma. They were data points anchoring a macro-level machine. The achievement of the final second completes a cyclical teleportation matrix across the dimensions. The five clinics activate simultaneously, transforming the psychiatric group into a permanent, multi-dimensional transit network.
The season ends with the sky fracturing. The aliens can now move freely between Earth and their native dimensions, utilizing the newly engineered pocket universes as massive, unchecked testing grounds for human experimentation. Elena is left looking up at a world completely
colonized by a corporate medical empire controlled by non-humans.
